Collection of a half-penny sales tax in Santa Rosa County will begin in January of next year, but appointment of the oversight committee for the LOST has been delayed until weeks before that collection.
The Infrastructure Surtax Citizen Committee (ISCC) will look at spending of the estimated $35 million of revenue generated by the half-penny over the next five years. The Santa Rosa County Board of County Commissioners discussed delaying implementation of the ISCC Tuesday, Oct. 11 during their regular meeting.
The BOCC is delaying until District 1 County Commissioner-elect Sam Parker is sworn into office in November. His seat was vacated by Jayer Williamson earlier this year when Williamson successfully ran for the Florida House District 3 seat.
“We won’t see them (ISCC) seated until we have a fully seated BOCC,” County Administrator Tony Gomillion said.
