The Republican Party of Florida Congressional District 1 is hosting a debate series across the expansive district for the next Republican U. S. Representative. This is the seat currently occupied by U.S. Rep. Jeff Miller who has announced his retirement.
The first debate is set for Pensacola on Friday, June 24 at 6:30 p.m. at Washington High School. The second debate is planned for Thursday June 30 at Northwest Florida State College in Niceville. The third debate will be Saturday, July 30, at 6:30 p.m. at Milton High School. However, the Walton county date and venue is still being finalized.
This is only the fourth time since the 1960s this office has been an open election and with nine candidates running, these debates offer an opportunity to meet, hear and understand the platforms of the Republican candidates vying for the office.
