The foundation of ElemenTree yoga combines the physical practice with an inner emotional and spiritual journey. By integrating body, breath, movement and meditative awareness, they strive to promote an understanding of the interdependency of these elements in your personal health and well-being.
ElemenTree also offers virtual classes and guided meditations on their website for those who would like to try out classes on their own first.
The team at ElemenTree consists of 15 teachers who teach more than 30 different classes a week ranging from hot yoga to chair yoga to prenatal yoga to guided meditation. The classes range from 60-90 minutes, depending on the type of class.
All the classes at ElemenTree Yoga are sorted into one of the five elements of nature – earth, air, water, fire and ether. Most classes attempt to coordinate breathing and physical movement, improve focus and concentration, and help participants regain control of their body and mind.
The name of the yoga studio is inspired by the meaning of their practice.
“We made up our own word, but it has a reason,” Willow said. “So, it’s based on the five elements. We have our flow classes that are like the water and we have the fire classes like hot yoga. The earth classes are more like the stillness, like yin yoga and prenatal yoga.”
“And then our meditation classes are more like air and space,” Cara added.
Each class is categorized on ElemenTree’s website with a description.
“So really it’s aimed at finding balance, so if you have too much fire in your life, maybe you need a water class,” Willow said laughing. “The more that we learn about ourselves, the more we can find balance.”
Cara said it’s all about finding what you need and what nourishes you.
Cara got introduced to yoga when her husband saw a sign at the gym and she wanted to find some peace while she was operating a business with her husband and raising two toddlers.
Willow had a similar path. She found yoga from a sign after spending seven and a half years in the military and becoming a stay-at-home mom. She said yoga was her sanity and she fell in love with it.
Yoga teaches the mind and body how to relax and teaches the importance of breathing.
“Breathing is a huge part of the practice because people are holding their breath and they don’t even know it,” Willow said. “One of the major things that people get from being here is deepening their breath or calming their breath, so it actually helps to relieve anxiety.”
Cara pointed out that you can live so many days without water or food, “but you cannot live without breathing.”
“It’s super rewarding to see the way people come in agitated and the way they leave with their shoulders dropped and calm and just more at peace with life,” Cara said.
The relaxation doesn’t stop there. ElemenTree also offers massage therapy (MM#38695) ranging from deep tissue to Reiki energy healing.
The yoga studio offers group classes throughout the day to accommodate busy schedules. Your mental and physical health is their top priority. For a full schedule, check out their website at www.ElemenTreeYogaStudio.com.
