Secretary of Department of Business and Professional Regulation Halsey Beshears announced Friday on social media that on-site consumption of alcohol at bars is now banned statewide.
Effective immediately, the Department of Business and Professional Regulation is suspending on premises consumption of alcohol at bars statewide.— HalseyBeshears (@HalseyBeshears) June 26, 2020
Beshears said the order is effective immediately.
It comes on the heels of Florida crushing a single-day record for COVID-19 cases. The state reported nearly 9,000 cases on Friday (8,942). It’s the third consecutive day of 5,000 or more cases.
The ban comes just weeks after bars were allowed to reopen in the state.
Details on how the order will be enforced and how it will be applied to restaurants weren’t given in the post by Beshears.
