The Florida High School Athletic Association announced Tuesday there is a chance spring sports can resume in May.
The FHSAA is actively working on creative solutions in order to allow the spring sports season to continue if schools reopen May 4. They have been closed since mid-March because of the COVID-19 pandemic. If the season did resume, it could be extended through June 30.
The FHSAA also understands hardships have been created by COVID-19. It is looking into a plan regarding additional eligibility for students who did not get a chance to compete in spring sports.
The final games of any kind during the spring season were played March 13. The original return to school date was March 30 but schools will now remain closed through at least May 1.
