Navarre’s boys basketball team has high expectations, driven to compete for a district title and have postseason success.
Terry Posey enters his second season as the Raiders’ head coach, and he’s putting a team on the floor featuring five seniors with experience in his system – a luxury he didn’t have last year.
Navarre tipped-off its’ regular season schedule Monday against Escambia. A lot of work preceded that game, including a summer schedule and fall workouts geared for improvements.
“Those kids have given me everything they had,” Posey said. “I’m very, very proud of ‘em. They give me great effort. They’ve just got to fine tune stuff. Hopefully that comes quicker than later.”
Since school began, the Raiders have added Tim Brewer, a 6-foot 3-inch guard, but the rest of the roster shows familiar faces.
Seniors Joe Szcesny, Louis Carter, Elijah Proby, Carson Whitley, and Jacob Yates give the Raiders an experienced floor general, shooting guard and three front-court players with some height. It’s also three more seniors than Navarre had last year.
