Hemingway’s Island Grill, a beautiful beachfront restaurant located on Quietwater Beach Road on Pensacola Beach, has the beach charm and style both locals and visitors are looking for when they need a break from the fast pace of life.
While the restaurant has been newly remodeled with a fresh beach-friendly look, all the favorites on the menu are still cooked to perfection. They feature fresh seafood, hand-cut steaks and live entertainment in a great waterfront location.
General Manager Nick Loizos says it’s his staff that keeps customers coming back for more. “Our level of service and the quality of our food is truly second to none,” he said. “We present a value with every menu item served.” Nick attributes his staff’s success to frequent training and honing of their skills.
Nick’s staff is one to behold. His award-winning chef has served up mouth-watering delights for 10 years at Hemingway’s. Among customer favorites are the Long Boat Key Mahi-mahi which features grilled Mahi-mahi filet topped with sautéed shrimp, tomatoes, onion, mushrooms and a creamy citrus butter sauce served with island rice. The trigger fish Florentine is also a favorite – grilled and topped with a spinach and artichoke cream sauce, topped with Feta cheese and served over garlic smashed potatoes.
The sides are unique as well, like the lobster mac-n-cheese which is southern-style baked with claw and knuckle meat, or maduros – sweet plantains with a salted caramel dipping sauce. Or if you prefer a spicier side, try the Cuban black beans simmered in Island spices with garlic and onion.
Steak lovers should try the tenderloin churrasco, aged medallions rubbed with roasted garlic and Island spices, chargrilled to perfection and topped with a citrus butter sauce. The ribeyes are aged 28 days for optimum flavor and tenderness and grilled to your liking. Steaks can also be topped in a variety of ways. Choose the Kentucky Bourbon and brown sugar sauce with tender button mushrooms and onions, or a lobster cream sauce blended with sherry, Parmesan cheese and lobster meat. Any way you choose, you won’t be disappointed.
Wednesday through Sunday, Hemingway’s offers live entertainment primarily in the evenings. They feature local artists with a blend of beach friendly music. Sunday visitors can enjoy brunch from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Of the 15 years Hemingway’s has been open, Nick has been there for 14. His favorite part of the job is getting to meet the customers. “I get the opportunity to meet all the great people that come in from all over our area, the country and even the world,” Nick said. “They breathe life into our restaurant.”
Pensacola Beach offers great dining options, and Hemingway’s is one you really don’t want to miss.
