Initiated through help from an Alabama/Florida Technical Employment Grant, the welding technology program at Northwest Florida State College’s Niceville program is a success story behind a job placement percentage that is at nearly 100 percent.
“Job placement for our graduates is at 90 percent,” said Mark Gonzalez, an assistant professor of welding technology at the school. “We have students entering the welding career field immediately after graduation and some test for companies during their last weeks of training.”
The program began in August of 2013, providing students the chance to learn the skills, knowledge and customized training necessary to be a journeyman-level professional welder.
Students who earn their welding technology certificate have an opportunity to earn their advanced welding technology certificate as well.
