Kathy Rohrig’s fourth-grade class at West Navarre Primary had achieved their reading goals and to celebrate a “mystery reader” was going to visit the class March 7 and read Dr. Seuss’ “Happy Birthday to You” story. Rohrig had arranged for Whitney Psinas, the mother of 7-year-old Addison, to be the “mystery reader,” however, about two weeks before the event plans changed.
Whitney learned her husband, Master Sgt. Jared Psinas, who had spent several weeks at Creech Army Base in Nevada training for his next deployment, was going to arrive home sooner than expected.
“I learned that Jared was due home the night before the special program and thought it would be a great surprise for Addison if he was the ‘mystery reader,’” said Whitney Psinas. “I picked him up at the airport and had to sneak him into the house so Addison wouldn’t know he’d gotten home early.”
