Scratch marks from the thorns that were in their legs are lasting reminders of the rigors that come with navigating through an orienteering course.
“The thorns catch and scratch up your legs, and we were even wearing leggings,” said senior Ashley Russell. “Every time you run, the thorns go deeper.”
But in the end it’s all about fighting through the pain and overcoming the challenges to be the best and Navarre’s Navy JROTC unit did just that at the Area 8 competition in Oak Mountain, Alabama, in December.
