Donald Trump would be the next president of the United States and Marco Rubio would be Florida’s next U.S. senator if Navarre High School voters had their way.
NHS students cast their ballots in the school’s first full-blown mock election Wednesday, Nov. 2 as part of an effort to get students engaged in the political process.
Chair of the Social Studies Department and social studies teacher Tracy Brown helped get the program running.
“The students’ voices matter,” she said. “This is such a hotly contested election this year, and the students are talking about it in the halls. We are talking about it in class…They want to be heard, and I think it’s important to be good models. Say ‘go ahead and vote.’”
