When it comes to teaching the birds and the bees, the Santa Rosa County School District outsources the task.
The district has entrusted the Pregnancy Resource Center of Milton to handle teaching students about sex, healthy relationships and sexually transmitted diseases.
Director of Student Services Sherry Smith said it is not uncommon to bring in a third party for these lessons.
“It is just a support for our schools and to assist them with that curriculum. Even with our state standards, they suggest that you can reach out to these community partners,” she said.
