Adding a seventh period to the school day still seems out of reach, according to the Santa Rosa School District’s numbers.
The district cut the schedule to six periods, trimming about 30 minutes off the school day, back in 2010 in response to the economic crisis that saw plummeting property values across the country. The choice was made to balance the budget and avoid further layoffs.
