Eighteen teachers from Santa Rosa County schools have been named ACCELerator Grant Program award winners, nearly double the total from a year ago when only 10 received grants.
“It’s exciting that we had so many chosen this year from one county,” said Jeffery Baugus, the math and science coordinator for the Santa Rosa County School District.
The grants are offered by the Gulf Coast Chapter of the National Defense Industrial Association, and the focus is on generating enthusiasm for the STEM Initiative (science, technology, engineering and math) among students.
