Dorsey motivated coming off trip to state last year

Harrison Dorsey made it to state last season for the first time in his career, competing in the 100-yard Backstroke.

He hopes to go again and is motivated to do it.

“There are a lot of expectations after what I accomplished last year,” Dorsey said. “I can’t stay the same.”

A team captain, Dorsey helped lead the way to three relay victories Wednesday at the opening meet of the season at the Pullum YMCA against Milton and Choctaw.

He teamed up with Charles Vickery, Austin Koenigseder and Chase Jennings to win the 400 Breaststroke Relay in a time of 5:02.03 and was on the 400 Freestyle Relay squad that clocked in with a time of 3:50.83. That relay also included Jed Teague, Vickery and Luke Losquadro.

Dorsey was also part of the mixed first-place 800 Freestyle Relay team that clocked in at 8:33.64 and included Madison Sullins, Charles Smith and Merete Conley.
