Of the natural disasters that come to Northwest Florida, hurricanes and flooding are typically front of mind, not earthquakes.
But residents of Northwest Florida may have felt a slight tremor Sept. 3 from a 3.8 magnitude earthquake southwest of Pollard, Alabama, near the northern Florida-Alabama line.
The minor earthquake struck around 10 a.m. according to USGS. People in the area of Jay, Century and areas of Alabama reported feeling light shaking from the quake. The depth of the quake was 4 kilometers.
