Foggy conditions didn’t keep Navarre’s girls soccer team from clearing a path to victory in its Region 1-6A tournament opener Tuesday night.
The Raiders scored two minutes into the game on a goal by Mai Vacks and never looked back, beating the Golden Eagles 4-1 at Bennett C. Russell Stadium.
Third-seeded Navarre (17-5-2) advances to play No. 2 seed Chiles (13-5-3) Friday night in the semifinal round in Tallahassee. Game time is 7 p.m. EST. The Raiders beat the Timberwolves 2-1 in November.
Autumn Slaybaugh’s goal off a corner kick pushed the Raiders in front 2-0 at halftime before Vacks scored her second goal of the night.
Hailey Bastian finished off the scoring for the Raiders, who have rattled off seven consecutive wins.
Navarre is in the second round of the regional for the first time since 2018. The District 1-6A champ is now seeking its first regional final appearance since 2015.
