Upon pulling over a vehicle swerving along U.S. Highway 98 Oct. 13 in Gulf Breeze, a sheriff’s deputy discovered the driver was not only unlicensed but also 12 years old.
The child’s mother, Francisco Darla Saria of Milton, was sitting in the passenger seat, and two more minors were sitting in the back seat according to Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office reports. Saria is now facing a charge of felony child neglect and allowing a minor to drive.
According to the arrest report, a deputy on routine patrol saw the vehicle, a white GMC Terrain, swerving into the right lane with its left turn signal flashing. The deputy conducted a traffic stop.
After an investigation into the incident, Saria, who was responsible for the three juveniles, was arrested. During the stop, the deputy could smell the odor of alcohol on Saria’s breath according to the report.
Saria was also cited for expired registration and no proof of insurance. Bond was set at $23,000, and she has since been released from Santa Rosa County Jail.
