Matt Cronin worked the final 1 1/3 innings of Arkansas’ 7-4 win over Texas Tech Wednesday in Omaha, Neb., helping the Razorbacks earn a spot in the semifinal round of the College World Series.
Cronin allowed two runs on two hits and struck out two while walking one as he made his first appearance in the CWS. He threw 27 pitches, including 21 for strikes.
Cronin is a 2016 Navarre grad and the Razorbacks’ closer. The sophomore standout has 12 saves and a 3.30 ERA. He has struck out 54 this season.
The game at Ameritrade Park was scheduled for Tuesday but pushed to Wednesday because of rain. Rain fell again Wednesday, delaying the game for more than three hours.
Arkansas plays Texas or Florida Friday night at 7 p.m. for the right to advance to the CWS final. The Razorbacks are 46-19 on the season and are 2-0 so far in Omaha.
