County contractors removed more than 49,000 cubic yards of debris from Santa Rosa County roads in the weeks after Hurricane Sally.
That’s only a fraction of what needs hauling said County Commissioner Dave Piech. Piech represents the hard-hit areas of Navarre and Navarre Beach.
“Their focus is on the debris that is going to get moldy and smelly,” Piech said of the first pickups. “We announced that the first pass was going to take three to five weeks because they are going down every single road in the county from the Gulf all the way up to the Alabama line.”
