Santa Rosa County commissioners are on the fence about paying out leave to a dismissed administrator, and millions of dollars of liability are the source of their discomfort.
The sticky wicket came up in the public forum following the commissioners regular meeting Aug. 13. Ex-Public Works Director Stephen Furman has accused the county of failing to fulfill their contract obligation for severance.
In July, Furman was terminated from his position, ending a 25-year career with the county.
