It was an overcast but pleasant Sunday afternoon when a crowd of about 25 people gathered atop a seawall behind a Navarre home. Santa Rosa Sound was tabletop smooth, its surface rippled only intermittently by dolphins in pursuit of mullet. Playful dolphins are masters at capturing attention, but this crowd’s gaze was fixed closer to shore where a cluster of three people stood in thigh-deep water facing the crowd.
