Following Hurricane Sally’s pounding surf and winds Sept. 16, the coastal residents of Crescent III in Navarre were left with no docks.
Instead, they had mounds of broken and battered lumber deposited into their backyards and a dozen or so accesses along Santa Rosa Sound turned into nothing but broken and leaning pilings.
During Sally’s trudge along the coast, Crescent III residents saw the waters rise over their roughly 3-foot sea wall, pushing debris and even a lost boat into their yards.
For seniors like Pete and Joanne Stieb, the thought of cleaning up the mess was daunting.
