Senior guard Elijah Proby sank nine three-pointers in two big wins last week. His final one sealed the deal on a thrilling 68-65 win over rival Gulf Breeze Friday night.
Proby drilled his clutch shot with 1.5 seconds to play, swishing through the net and setting off a frenzied celebration. The shot caps a big week in which the Raiders (12-7, 3-4 District 1-6A) also took down Niceville 55-41.
“Big rivalry wins. We’ll take ‘em,” Navarre head coach Terry Posey said. “We’re proud of winning, but we haven’t done anything yet. We’re just playing one game at a time.”
In the win over Gulf Breeze, the game didn’t start out well. The Raiders trailed 20-7 after one quarter of play as it seemed as if there was a lid on Navarre’s basket.
By halftime, the Raiders trailed 38-24.
Momentum started to swing in favor of Navarre in the third.
Just 32 seconds into the second half, Proby drained a rainbow from well outside the 3-point line and ignited a 20-4 run.
