Closer look at Navarre’s all-star baseball game participants

Editor’s Note: The 2019 Subway All-Star Baseball Game is June 6 at Jim Spooner Field on the campus of the University of West Florida. Game time is 6:30 p.m. The baseball game features standout seniors from Escambia, Santa Rosa and Okaloosa counties. Cameron Terrian, Eric Anderson and Kaleb Hellard have been selected to represent Navarre on the East team.

Eric Anderson

Position: First Base

Inside the numbers: One of only two players to appear in all 27 games this season. Led the team with a .419 batting average and was hit by a pitch eight times. In his 100 plate appearances, he struck out just nine times. He accumulated 36 hits – 31 of them singles – which led to him scoring 15 times.

Quick Hits: An anchor at first base, his performance was golden-glove worthy. But the big guy spoke softly and carried a big stick. Though he had to play through the pain of a shoulder injury, Anderson focused on consistency at the plate – batting over .500 for much of the season. Anderson presented a significantly smaller strike zone when he crouched his 6-foot-4 frame in the batter’s box, commonly pursing his lips in concentration during an at-bat. Anderson was also known for his relentless work ethic and focus on team success.
