Recently a customer said spending time in Southern Specialty was like hanging out in “Truvy’s Beauty Salon” on Steel Magnolias.
And anyone who spends any time at all in this precious store would probably agree with this claim. And why wouldn’t it be?
Southern Specialty, open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. and on Saturdays from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m., is a fun and homey place where you immediately feel like you belong thanks to the two ladies who own and run the sweet little boutique.
The owners Lisa Gambill and Magda Morton are constantly getting the most fashionable clothing and up to date items in their store. They do not rely on the internet to shop for their products but go to the largest markets such as Dallas and Atlanta.
The store celebrated its four-year anniversary in April.
Southern Specialty not only has some of the most unique items you’ll find in Navarre and the surrounding area, it also has that “deep south charm.” “We are truly blessed to have been in business this long,” Gambill said. “We have had people in here every day.”
Baby and children’s corner
Among the newest features in the store is a baby and children’s corner, featuring a wide range of items that are perfect for the young ones that you may have at home, or for those unique shower gifts.
Candles, luxury soaps, perfumes and lotions
Bridgewater Candles are also a hot item and are among the most popular in the store. Capri Blue Candles and a new line from the Southern Elegance Candle Company are also favorites. Luxurious, handcrafted and preservative free bar soaps are made in the USA and are one of Southern Specialty’s most popular items. Finchberry soaps, which are made here in Florida have been available for purchase at Southern Specialty.
Speaking of soaps, check out the Grecian Soaps that are all organic made from goat’s milk and olive oil with an imbedded sea sponge for scrubbing. They also feature Inis Cologne and Tokyo Milk perfumes and lotions.
Among the fashion lines featured at the store are Rag Poet and the ever-popular Z Supply; all of these brands are exclusive to Southern Specialty. New clothing lines are always coming in and Simply Southern Tees are still one of the most popular lines available.
Attention to the details
But don’t think the girls have forgotten about the jewelry and accessories. They’ve also added jewelry lines that include the very famous French artist and designer Catherine Popesco; her jewelry line is aptly named ‘La Vie Parisienne.’ Another line that is really taking Navarre by storm is the very popular Erimish Bracelets and Necklaces and Leather and Pearl Chokers. The Giving Key Jewelry line is also in stock along with Skosh jewelry.
Puravida rings and bracelets, including the new wave bracelets, and Shine Life jewelry are also sought-after items in the store.
Myra Bags are a hot item as well, as are the Piper Lou win cups and the 30A T-shirts, which are made from recycled plastics.
Adding some southern at home
Decorative Navarre signs that feature Navarre’s latitude and longitude are also popular items and the Little Birdie Pillows, which are made in Mississippi, are one of the store’s biggest sellers. You can even buy Hello Mello Lounge wear and oven mitts.
Customers can also look over shelves stocked with everything from cheeseball and dessert mixes to everyone’s favorite Southern Flavor rubs, Ala Carte Alice products, East Hill Honey and Amelia Toffey Company from Fernandina Beach Florida.
Southern charm and hospitality
Gambill and Morton, of course are always ready to take care of anyone who walks through the door, greeting them with a warm smile and providing them with quality customer service.
Voted the favorite small shop in Navarre by the Chamber of Commerce’s secret shoppers, Southern Specialty is a go-to shopping spot for area residents and visitors alike.
