Santa Rosa County’s bounce back from the Great Recession of 2009 and 2010 isn’t complete, according to its jobless rate. But the way we were as a labor market may not come again.
The county’s unemployment rate as of June, 4.9 percent, reflects great improvement over the peak of 10 percent in January 2010. Santa Rosa’s rate is also better than the current levels in Florida overall, and the nation’s rate of 5.5 percent.
But Santa Rosa’s jobless rate is still significantly above the levels during a stretch from December 2005 through May 2006, when unemployment here stayed at 3 percent or less.
