The Pensacola Blue Wahoos take on the Tennessee Smokies tonight in the final game of a six-game series at Pensacola Bayfront Stadium.
The Blue Wahoos nailed down their first shutout of the season last night, blanking the Smokies 3-0 in Southern League action. Josh Smith earned the win as he went five innings and allowed two hits while striking out five. Smith is 3-1 on the year.
Pensacola cranked out seven hits in the victory and went 2-of-7 with runners in scoring position.
Ray Chang extended his hit streak to six games in the win while Kyle Waldrop tallied two hits. Beau Amaral came through with two hits as well. One of his hits was a triple. Smith came up with a hit as well and drove in the first run of his Double-A career.
Pensacola, sitting at 10-19 on the season, will look to extend its win streak to three games tonight.
Wandy Peralta is on the mound for the Blue Wahoos. He is 1-3 with a 5.96 ERA. Signed as a non-drafted free agent in 2009, Peralta is looking for his first win since April 12 when the Blue Wahoos knocked off the Biloxi Shuckers 4-0.
The Smokies are 15-13 and in the midst of an 11-game road swing. Felix Pena is on the hill for Tennessee. He is 2-0 with a 1.78 ERA.
