Gov. Ron DeSantis announced Wednesday that bars, pubs and movie theaters will re-open at 50% capacity starting Friday.
He said this is the start of Phase II of the ‘Safe. Smart. Step-by-Step’ plan to re-open after COVID-19 induced statewide closures. The governor made the announcement during a press conference in Orlando at Universal Studios, which will also partially open to visitors Friday.
Bar and pub patrons will be required to be seated to be served, and there will not be capacity limits on outdoor seating service. Social distancing of six feet is still required.
“We want to not have huge crowds piling in,” DeSantis said of limitations on bars and pubs.
While the majority of the state will head into phase II, the three most impacted counties must submit plans to the governor’s office before transitioning. Those counties are Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach.
