A body found in Pace Tuesday has been tentatively identified as a missing 11-year-old boy from Colorado according to a sheriff’s office press release.
Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s office found the body and contacted the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office March 18 in an attempt to make an identification.
An autopsy was performed by the District One Medical Examiner, and the child is believed to be Gannon Stauch, who went missing in January. According to The Associated Press, Gannon was reported missing by his stepmother, Letecia Stauch.
Stauch has since been arrested and charged in Gannon’s death. She faces charges of first-degree murder, child abuse resulting in death, tampering with a body and tampering with a physical evidence according to AP.
Law enforcement are requesting anyone who saw Letecia Stauch in Pensacola or Santa Rosa County during the time frame of Feb. 3 to 5 to contact the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Tip Line at 719-520-6666 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
