Blue Wahoos Stadium named best Double-A ballpark

Blue Wahoos Stadium is the Double-A champion of Ballpark Digest’s Best of the Ballparks competition.

Determined by fan vote, more than 80,000 votes were cast during the five rounds of competition, All 30 Double-A teams were featured in it.

The Pensacola Blue Wahoos beat out “Hodgetown,” which is the home of the Amarillo Sod Poodles, for the title.

“We’re very excited to bring the title of Best Ballpark back to Pensacola,” team president Jonathan Griffith said. “Our mission as an organization is to improve the quality of life in our community, so it’s an honor for us to bring this recognition to our city. While we’re proud to have a great ballpark, we’re even more proud to have such incredible fans who voted us to the title.”

The Blue Wahoos are the Double-A affiliate of the Minnesota Twins. Two of their wins in the competition came against fellow Southern League teams. They beat Biloxi in the second round and Montgomery in the third round.

Blue Wahoos Stadium was built in 2012. This marks the second time it has won the Ballpark Digest competition. It last won the title in 2016.
