Black Lives Matter mural hits legal snag

Milton’s potential Black Lives Matter mural hit a legal snag July 23 during Milton’s Committee of the Whole meeting at council chambers.

Milton United member Summer Merricks worked with community members to bring an official proposal to City Council to paint a mural on James or Cherry street near James Street Baptist Church. Previous council discussions of the street mural were products of hearsay, but council members were presented with a rendering of the concept during the meeting.

At issue is whether the proposal would require an ordinance change by the city.
