Bistro 98 now serving weekday specials

Located midway between Navarre and Gulf Breeze, Bistro 98 is the perfect place to enjoy a home-cooked meal for both breakfast and lunch.
Bistro 98 now has a special for every day of the work week. Come by and enjoy the Hamburger Steak Special on Mondays and Thursdays. The delicious eight-ounce steak plate is served with mashed potatoes and gravy and green beans, all for a bargain of $8.95. If you would like a 12-oz steak, it is only $2 more.
Tuesdays at Bistro 98 are called Taco Tuesday. Here, you will get three tacos for $6. You can’t beat that!
Wednesdays, you can get a two-piece fried chicken dinner, served with mashed potatoes and green beans, all for $8.50.
And Fridays are Fish Friday, serving fish tacos and fish sandwiches from open until close.
Under the ownership of Mike Maurer and his wife, Lynne, the restaurant at 5248 Gulf Breeze Parkway has become a local hot spot for dining.
Mike and Lynne opened their first bar and restaurant in 2006 in Missouri, and it was successful.
They then opted to relax a bit in 2013 and spent time traveling before settling in Florida.
As Maurer and his wife were getting older, they thought they would just work for someone else. However, they both struggled finding a job because no one wanted to hire someone who had already owned a restaurant. The couple shifted gears and bought their own restaurant again.
“We wanted to find where we fit, and this is a great community,” Lynne said. “We love being here.”
The customers love it too. Mike says that Bistro 98 serves a lot of happy customers that become regulars. “We have people that come here every single day, and I mean every day. Some guests come for breakfast and then later for lunch also,” Maurer said.
Breakfast is served all day, starting at 7 a.m., and there are plenty of choices, everything from shrimp and grits to corned beef and hash. Breakfast nachos feature crisp tortilla chips with Chorizo, onions, avocado, green peppers, tomatoes, scrambled eggs, jalapenos, black beans and queso.
Breakfast sandwiches, omelets, eggs benedict and chicken and waffles are also delicious choices you’ll find on the menu.
From lighter options like a chicken salad and chicken wrap to club or Reuben sandwiches, there’s something for everyone.
The Bistro Beast is Bistro 98’s newest addition and best-selling item on the menu. It is a delicious omelet, consisting of ham, bacon, roast beef, sausage, mushrooms, green pepper and hash browns inside, all served with cheddar cheese on top. The Beast is offered as a full omelet or as junior size, but either choice is sure to fill you up.
On the weekends, you can check out the breakfast buffet from 7 a.m. until noon Saturdays and from 7 a.m. until 1 p.m. Sundays. Bistro 98 also serves beer and wine.
Need a place to hold a meeting or banquet? Bistro 98 has you covered with that as well. It has a room available, and there is no charge for the room as long as you order off the menu.
The beauty of a small business is getting to know all the customers by name.
“Me and my wife are here most of the time. People enjoy getting to see the owners work and getting to talk to them and getting to know them a little bit and find out what kind of people they are,” Mike said. “And we’re just normal people. We’ve worked hard all our lives.”
Mike is continuously modifying the menu for his guests and keeping things exciting.
“You got to mix it up once in a while, introduce some new food items for people, especially the ones that come every day,” Mike said.
The local loving atmosphere that reminds people of home is important to the Maurers.
“We want people to laugh and have a good time here,” Lynne said. “We take pride in what we do and the food we make. We want people to enjoy it and have a good experience here.”
Roll into Bistro 98 today. It’s the perfect restaurant for the perfect breakfast or lunch.
