While the long-term budget impacts of COVID-19 are still unclear, Santa Rosa County commissioners committed May 14 to pay nearly $4 million to renovate Benny Russell Park.
The project on roughly 30 acres of county owned land is part of a multi-year plan that included master planning and public input. Planned improvements include a new splash pad, restrooms, playground, multipurpose field, fitness area and trail with expanded parking and stormwater retention. Commissioner Sam Parker represents the Pace area where the park is located. He celebrated the park moving forward.
