Two women were arrested for burglary May 25 after a Navarre Beach property owner noticed a vehicle in his rental’s driveway when the property should have been vacant.
At roughly 7:30 a.m. Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to the home along Gulf Boulevard after a gold Honda Accord was spotted by the property owner.
According to a sheriff’s office report, when deputies arrived, two women were found sleeping in one of the bedrooms. The owner told deputies the vacation rental was not under any rental agreements at the time.
After deputies woke the women, drugs were found in the bedroom they were sleeping in. Deputies found Clonazepam pills, a Gabapentin capsule, three Ziploc-type baggies of ‘Sloth Sticks,’ a cannabis derivative containing THC. The “Sloth Sticks” were labeled for medical use in the state of California only according to the arrest report.
Deputies discovered the women, identified as Maggie Mae Thompson, 24, and Jacquelyn Lloyd, 29, did not have prescriptions for any of the drugs. Beer cans, moonshine and
champagne bottles were also found in the kitchen area.
Thompson and Lloyd were visiting the area from Memphis, Tennessee according to the report. Both women were taken into custody and booked in the Santa Rosa County Jail.
Thompson has been charged with burglary of an unoccupied dwelling unarmed, a second degree felony. larceny, a third degree felony, two counts of drug possession of a controlled substance without a prescription, a third degree felony and tampering with evidence, a third degree felony. Thompson was released on a $50,000 bond.
Lloyd has been charged with burglary of an unoccupied dwelling unarmed, a second degree felony and larceny, a third degree felony. Lloyd was released on a $32,500 bond.
The sheriff’s office wants to remind all residents to make sure all their properties are properly secured and locked to unwanted persons at all times. Additionally, patrol requests and watch orders can be requested at all district offices.
