Hailey Bastian admits she was a little nervous when she signed her national letter of intent with South Alabama last Wednesday afternoon.
“I was nervous coming up here, and thinking ‘Wow, this is happening.’ I’m excited,” Bastian said.
Navarre’s senior soccer star said the feeling of making her college commitment official is a good one.
“It feels amazing,” Bastian said. “The fact that I’ve worked my whole life for this and now it’s coming true, I have to take a breath for a second and applaud myself.”
Bastian is one of the Raiders’ top scoring threats. She tallied 13 goals and 14 assists last season and came through with a goal and an assist in Navarre’s regular-season opener against Pensacola Catholic last Wednesday night.
Navarre head coach Rob Simon said he always takes pride in seeing one of his players get the opportunity to play at the next level.
Seeing Bastian sign with a college has a little extra meaning. He’s been coaching her since her youth soccer days.
