Chocolate Easter eggs are a big deal in England. According to Statista.com, over 80 million Easter eggs are sold in the UK every year, and the average child will consume eight of them. Every Easter, children all over the world look forward to Easter morning where they eagerly hunt for eggs and then dig into their chocolate findings.

Carlos Alfonzo found his culinary passion at a young age growing up in Caracas, Venezuela, by helping his grandmother in the kitchen. Moving to the United States at the age of 11, he spent most of his teenage years in Miami until he joined the U.S. Navy in 2003.

Salt Water Stitchers donate quilts to officers

The local Navarre sewing group Salt Water Stitchers continued their quest to make quilts for all the school resource officers in the south end of Santa Rosa County. Last May, they made eight quilts and presented them to the Navarre and Woodlawn Beach schools. In September 2022, they began to make five more quilts for the school resource officers at the Gulf Breeze schools, Oriole Beach Elementary, and the new officer at Holley Navarre Primary.

Pensacola Bay Bridge westbound structure opens to traffic Tuesday, Feb. 14

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) will open the westbound (Gulf Breeze to Pensacola) span of the Pensacola Bay Bridge on U.S. 98 to vehicular traffic by 6 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 14. The two spans of the bridge are now temporarily accommodating two east and two westbound travel lanes, but upon final completion of the project each structure will support three lanes of traffic in each direction, along with inside and outside shoulders, and 10-foot wide multiuse paths for pedestrians and bicyclists.
