AFTER 2 YEARS, FLORIDA SUPREME COURT DEFINES SEXUAL INTERCOURSE

“Sexual intercourse” isn’t just between a man and a woman. The question arose during a case in which a man was charged with a third-degree felony for failing to reveal to his male partner that he was HIV-positive. His lawyer argued “sexual intercourse” didn’t apply to sexual activity between same-sex partners. The court rejected that argument Thursday.

PREGNANT WOMAN FALLS ILL AFTER IMMIGRATION DETENTION

A Thursday statement by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations said Ana Isabel Reyes Ramos was detained Tuesday for using false documents in a visa application. The statement says agents placed the handcuffs in front of her “for her comfort,” adding that anyone being transported in agency vehicles must be handcuffed.

ORLANDO-BASED SPA COMPANY IS EXPANDING TO INDIA

Marilyn Monroe Spas said Monday that it was partnering with an Indian company to open 250 franchises in Mumbai, Delhi and other cities in India. The franchises owned by La Vida Investment Holding are set to open later this year. Marilyn Monroe officials say India represents one of the world’s largest markets for salons and spas. The company currently operates luxury spas in California, Florida, Hawaii and New York.

SHERIFF: FIGHT OVER DOUGHNUTS ENDED WITH 1 DEAD, DEPUTY HURT

Pinellas County Sheriff Bob Gualtieri said it began Wednesday when 24-year-old Jeffrey Falsey asked his mother to get him doughnuts. When Susan DiFabbio refused, her son became angry. She called for help. Gualtieri says shots rang out after deputies arrived, sending the deputies scrambling behind cars as Falsey watched from inside through a video surveillance system.

SWEATER WEATHER: COLD FRONT DIPS MIAMI TEMPS INTO LOW 50s

At 7 a.m. Thursday, Miami’s temperature was 52 degrees. And National Weather Service forecasters said the temperatures would struggle to reach the mid-70s later in the day. Earlier this week, the region basked in sun and temperatures soared into the mid-80s. In Key West, the temperature dipped to 59 degrees early Thursday.
