FORMER RAMS PLAYER TRE MASON ARRESTED IN FLORIDA

Former Los Angeles Rams player Tre Mason has been arrested in South Florida on charges that he fled a deputy on an ATV in July. Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office records show that Mason was arrested Tuesday.

OFFICIALS: 45 CATS, 5 DOGS, PARROT DIE IN FLORIDA HOUSE FIRE

Rescue workers responded early Wednesday morning to the Merritt Island home. Brevard County Sheriff’s Office officials say a couple living at the house managed to escape without injury. One cat and 13 dogs were rescued and taken to a nearby animal shelter for a routine quarantine.

2 IN CUSTODY AFTER SHOOTING AT OFFICERS IN TAMPA

The shooting happened late Tuesday after reports of a car break-in outside a home. Police tell local news outlets that officers confronted three suspects about a block away. That’s when one of the suspects began shooting at the officers. The suspects fled on foot and the officers didn’t return fire.

DOCTORS: DAD WHO DROPPED GIRL OFF BRIDGE NOW COMPETENT

Pinellas Circuit Judge Chris Helinger said during a Wednesday hearing that she’s read the report on 27-year-old John Jonchuck and set a competency hearing for March 27. Authorities say that in January 2015, Jonchuck stopped his car on the bridge, grabbed 5-year-old Phoebe from the back and then walked to the edge, where he dropped her over.

MAN GETS LIFE SENTENCE FOR KILLING JAIL GUARD

Terrence Barnett was sentenced Wednesday. Authorities say Polk County Sheriff’s Sgt. Ronnie Brown was trying to restrain Barnett after the agitated inmate had snapped off a sprinkler head in his cell, causing water to spray. Witnesses say Barnett shoved Brown into a wall, causing him to break his back. He died a week later from a blood clot.
