Door never stops revolving at county animal shelter

Santa Rosa County Animal Services is near full capacity at the moment, although that isn’t anything new for the shelter in Milton, according to county animal services director Dale Hamilton.

Animals are always coming and going.

“It’s a revolving door, but we try to get them out fairly quickly, whether it’s adoption or a rescue organization takes them,” Hamilton said. “I’m not sure how many we have on hand right now, but it’s quite a few. We are pretty close to being full.”

There are currently 87 dogs, 59 cats and kittens and five gerbils in the shelter, but being close to or at capacity isn’t anything new for animal services.
