More than half of all adults are not meeting the recommended requirements for daily physical activity.
That issue becomes a bigger concern for older adults, who are suffering a bone loss of 3-5 percent each year once they hit the age of 55.
Sometimes it’s the craziness of life in general that gets in the way of people getting out and exercising more each day. Often, it’s just a matter of not having the right mindset, according to Dr. Ashley Zapf, who spoke at a seminar Friday afternoon at Baptist Medical Park in Navarre that focused on the maintenance of an active lifestyle.
A packed conference room listened in as Zapf did a presentation and answered questions.
“The biggest take home today is some people avoid physical activity all together because they say they don’t want to go out there and run or they don’t want to lift 50 pounds,” Zapf said.
