Sacred Heart construction draws FDEP warning

Dust blowing from the construction site of Sacred Heart’s new clinic in Tiger Point has brought a warning from the Florida Department of Environmental Protection.

Prompted by complaints from nearby residents, an FDEP inspector visited the 7-acre project last week and found inadequate maintenance at the Tiger Point Boulevard entrance.

“They hardly ever water the dirt and the dust is getting in our houses. We see it as a health hazard,” said Katherine Brown, a resident of the nearby Oak Pointe subdivision.

Sacred Heart referred a reporter to the project’s supervisor for Pensacola-based Greenhut Construction. He didn’t respond.
