Sharp public speaking skills and an intimate knowledge of shot guns meant a state 4-H victory for two Santa Rosa teen ladies at this summer’s State 4-H Competition.
Katie Carmichael, 18 and Sydney English, 15, took first place at the state competition for their presentation of “Hit it With Your Best Shot” an illustrated talk, or a presentation utilizing visual aids, about shot gun shells.
They attended the state competition after winning blue ribbons at the county and district level. Florida’s 4-H program hosts the annual contest at University of Florida in Gainesville. The national program works with children of all ages on activities involving health, science, agriculture and citizenship.
