No injuries in helicopter ‘mishap’

 

A Training Air Wing FIVE helicopter had a training mishap at around 3:10 p.m. Thursday, June 25, at Naval Air Station Whiting Field’s Navy Outlying Landing Field Santa Rosa near Milton, according to a release from the public affairs office.

Initial reports from the scene indicate that while trying to land, the helicopter incurred a hard landing on the grass near the runway.  The two pilots exited the helicopter on their own accord.  The pilots were evaluated by EMS personnel and are being transported to a local hospital for a routine, precautionary evaluation.

The incident is still being investigated, and further details will be released as they become available.
