While drawing an orangutan for her art class, Jayme Arnold told Kelly Strozier that she was having difficulty with the bottom of her piece. Later that day, Strozier, who teaches art at Gulf Breeze High School, noticed the drawing crumpled up in the waste paper basket.
“I pulled it out of the trash and said ‘You are not throwing this away,’” Strozier said at last weekend’s Gulf Breeze Celebrates the Arts Festival.
And good thing she did. The high school senior’s drawing placed first in its category at the festival.
