Police yesterday were called to the Gulf Breeze Post Office in reference to a suspicious package. A K-9 unit alerted on the package, which contained roughly 48 pounds of marijuana.
The package was in the process of being shipped to an address in Gulf Breeze. It was estimated that the total street value of this shipment was more than $100,000.
“Just when you think you’ve seen the dumbest stuff ever,” Capt. Bob Johnson of the Santa Rosa Sheriff’s Office (SRSO) said, pointing out a “bogus” name and address were used. He said the same name and address have been used previously, and investigators are reviewing related surveillance video.
Johnson said the Gulf Breeze Post Master contacted law enforcement to report the package and during the subsequent search the SRSO narcotics unit also found a second package containing drugs.
The package was in the process of being shipped to an address in Gulf Breeze. It was estimated that the total street value of this shipment was over $100,000.00.
The Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Narcotics Unit is continuing its investigation.
