St. Augustine of Canterbury Episcopal Church honored its veterans Sunday morning during a special presentation.
Parishioner Juliet Phillips, who is originally from England, told the congregation about the English tradition of commemorating the end of World War I on the Sunday closest to Nov. 11.
“I thought it would be nice to do it here, especially with all of the military,” she said.
Libbi Crowe, senior warden, liked the idea and decided to expand upon it. Between services Sunday morning, The Rev. Roy Elam gave a reading and named members of the parish, both living and departed, who have served in the military.
Boy Scout Troop 106, which is sponsored by St. Augustine, led a procession from inside the church to the All Souls’ Garden where Rev. Elam led a prayer.
