“We’ve never seen a local business do something like this for us,” said Navarre resident Monique Large. She teaches fourth and fifth grade at Edwins Elementary in Fort Walton Beach. She was part of a group of teachers who attended a special appreciation luncheon at Saltwater Cottage Sept. 6.
Teachers walked away with more than just discounted merchandise and delicious food. They also received a small piece of wood hung by twine with the number 12 painted on it. The simple gift held heavy significance.
With the 12 came a note that read, “We hope 12 will find a home in your classroom and each day it will be a source of encouragement knowing many are thinking of you and your students.”
