A vehicle theft ring that targeted victims along Hwy 98 in Navarre and Gulf Breeze has been ended by local police. A total of five suspects were arrested and all six vehicles including a Chevy Tahoe and a Z71 have been recovered.
All vehicle thefts occurred this week and deputies prepared for more late night theft activity Sept. 3. At 1:30 a.m. Sept. 4, two of the stolen vehicles were spotted near the Hwy 98 and Bergren Road intersection. Deputies followed thee vehicles into the Waterford Sound subdivision where they found the suspects along with the vehicles. Two of the suspects fled but were later found near Village Parkway.
“The vehicles which were burglarized were all unlocked. The stolen vehicles had keys located inside. We are seeing increased activities of this nature. We urge residents to keep their vehicles locked and items secured,” read a press release from Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer Rich Aloy.
