The Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office has identified Normond “Norm” Hale”, 41, of Navarre as the suspect in the shooting that occurred at 1:30 a.m. on June 6.
According to a report released by the sheriff’s office, an adult female was at her home with a male acquaintance when the suspect arrived and began to forcefully knock on the front door. The female answered the door and asked the suspect to leave, but both parties agreed to speak in another room. At that point, the suspect used a weapon he brought to the residence to fire a self-inflicted gunshot to his head. The female and other acquaintance were attempting to call 911 as they believed the suspect to be deceased when the suspect awoke, found the female and fired three shots at her. The suspect then pursued the acquaintance who was outside the residence and fired two shots at him.
At that point deputies, who were originally responding to a burglary call, arrived, secured the suspect and recovered the weapon. Both the female victim and suspect were transported to hospitals with gunshot wounds.
